Senior Centers don't have to be all about Bingo... Here at The Austintown Senior Center, we offer a variety of different programs to keep our members active, both mentally and physically. A growing section in our activity calendar is our crafting section. Some craft-like classes we offer are: S.O.S. - Members make calendars and bookmarks to donate to local nursing homes and groups Sew and Craft - Every Monday, members complete a different project using scrap material. Instruction is included and most material is provided. Some previous classes included making flowers and purses. Painting Class - Members choose their own painting, an instructor is there to help you through your project, paint

Grocery Bingo?

Like Bingo? Like Free Groceries? When you put the two together, you get our Grocery Bingo program! Grocery Bingo is held Thursdays (except the third Thursday) at the Austintown Senior Center. For $5.00, you get lunch and 2 bingo cards. A different local sponsor donates the groceries each week, so the prizes are never the same, some weeks we even have gift cards. Senior Stretching

How to maintain one's independence as they age is a question many of our senior members ask. Participating in a fitness program is a great way to improve your well being at any age, but it is increasingly important to maintain an active lifestyle as you age. Exercise helps control blood pressure, body weight, and cholesterol levels, as well as reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. It strengthens bones and muscles to fight osteoporosis and improve balance. We all know exercise will not help solve every problem of aging, but seniors will benefit from some easy to moderate exercise. Just don't over do it! At the Austintown Senior Center, we offer a new class called "Senior Stretching".

Every had to take an electronic to the store or had to call a kid or grandkid to help you fix one? Are you looking to be more tech savvy? Or maybe you just want to learn Facebook, email, or your new smart phone? The Austintown Senior Center has computer classes for a variety of skill levels and on an array of subjects. Ever wanted to learn computer basics or security? Maybe Windows 10, iPads, Excel, or Word? We have expanded our classes to include all of these classes plus eBay, burning CDs, working with flash drives, Facebook, email, digital cameras, plus many more.
